The temperatures are rising and heat waves are in full swing. Most of us LOVE that summer sun, but sometimes it’s just way too hot. Not to mention, it can be tough to keep the kids entertained while still enjoying the summer sun. For those steamy summer days, we’ve gathered some no-sweat ways to have a blast AND keep things cool:
1. Throw a backyard water party.
Probably one of the first things you think of when trying to find a way to cool off is “I need a pool!” If you don’t have access to a pool or an outdoor waterpark, throw your own backyard water party! Reasons we love this idea? You can celebrate with all your friends, you can customize these summer activities to be what YOU want, and it’s wallet-friendly! 2. Test out some frozen treats.

3. Dive into a new book.
Keep things cool by staying indoors and curling up with a book! Take a trip to your local library or bookstore to explore some new reads. On your way back, stop and grab a cool treat to enjoy while reading. Instead of treating the kids (and yourself!) to some ice cream, opt for a delicious grab-and-go snack made with fresh ingredients. 4. Make your own movie theater.
Get cozy inside by building the ultimate living room fort and movie theater. Using couch pillows, blankets, and whatever other comfy materials you can find, work together to set up a cozy space in front of the television. Turn down the lights, and play your favorite movie in the coolest movie theater EVER. Don’t forget your mid-movie snacks! How does something covered in chocolate sound? (The best part? You don’t even need to leave the house!)
5. Head outdoors for an early morning hike or bike ride.
If your family is active and enjoys outdoor summer activities, head out early in the morning (or late in the evening) for an adventure hike or bike ride. Take advantage of the sun not being so hot at these times. Peak times vary by location, so make sure you look up when the temperature is the hottest near you, and try to stay inside or in the shade.
