Cherries enhance release of melatonin, the sleep hormone and chamomile tea help you to relax bu enhancing brain neurotransmitters that induce sleep. The mangoes, seeds, and coconut will support blood sugar throughout the night so you can rest peacefully. Blueberries or half a frozen banana make a good substitute for mangoes.
- 1 cup almond or coconut milk
- 1⁄2 cup strong, cold chamomile tea
- 1 cup frozen (or fresh) cherries
- 1 cup frozen mangoes (optional)

I personally use organic baby spinach, for the best flavor and maximum nutrient delivery. If you are going to put any raw leafy greens into your smoothie, it’s always best to buy organic, to ensure they are free of toxins and pesticides.
The great thing about spinach is that on top of having lots of iron, it also has high concentrations of critical nutrients including calcium, folate, vitamins K, A, and C. The real magic happens when you add the blueberries and ginger, which turns this smoothie into a powerful immune-boosting concoction. If blended correctly, the flavors should complement each other perfectly and you can tweak it by adding more bananas or less spinach, which can make it sweeter or more bitter, depending on your taste.
My recipe goes as follows, although you can adjust it as you like:
- 2 cups baby spinach
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 banana (1 1/2 if you want it sweeter)
- 1/3 cup blueberries
- 1 Tbsp chopped raw ginger
- Blend the yogurt and the banana first and slowly add the blueberries.
- Add the baby spinach leaves slowly, allowing time for the blender to chop up the leaves into tiny bits.
- Add the ginger to supercharge the smoothie with antioxidants and give it a powerful anti-inflammatory punch.
- Test the consistency, if you want to thicken it, add more banana. If you need it to be more liquid, add more yogurt.

“My favorite fruit smoothie recipe is a peanut butter, honey + banana smoothie (yes, it is VERY filling). I know some people cannot stand bananas but I LOVE THEM and in smoothies, they’re a delight.
Paired with some other favorites of mine in this smoothie recipe is peanut butter and honey (because life is too uncertain for bland tasteless goop in my opinion!).
All you will need for this sinful delight are:
- 1 banana, preferably ripe but not too ripe – chop it into chunks. You can use store bought frozen banana chunks too but you may need to add more honey.
- 250ml (1 cup) of milk – you can swap this out with dairy free alternatives.
- 65g of your favorite smooth peanut butter – honey to taste (use the good stuff if you can).
- Ice cubes
Place all the ingredients into your blender of choice and blend until smooth (30-45 seconds). This recipe will make enough for 2 servings. I like to refrigerate the other one and have it as an afternoon pick-me-up.
You can use reduced fat peanut butter if you like. I find the taste to be very similar if not identical. If you prefer your smoothie to be thicker, add more banana.”
