Fun Activities You Can Enjoy This Fall

Last Updated on

Fall is arguably the most exciting season of the year. Beautiful shades of red, orange, and yellow fill the trees and the crisp autumn air can get almost anyone in the mood to wear a comfy knit sweater and drink a warm cup of hot coco. If you’re looking to get into the fall spirit, grab some friends and enjoy some of these fun activities:

Sitting around a fire can be so relaxing. Invite your friends and family over for a night of good conversation. Gather a bunch of warm blankets that they can wrap themselves in. Stay in the theme of fall and make a fresh batch of warm apple cider or pumpkin spice hot chocolate.

And don’t forget the music! Put a playlist together of jams you know your guests will love to set the tone of the evening. Lastly, put out a light spread—maybe a few fresh desserts. S’mores are always a great idea if you’re planning an outdoor get together!

Live in a part of the country where fall isn’t as picturesque as the movies? Plan a road trip! Go on an adventure to view leaves changing color and enjoy the full-fledged beauty of the fall season. Pack the family up or plan a trip with your closest friends for a weekend. Take the chance to visit a quaint town that has a festival or fun activity planned that you otherwise wouldn’t normally have the chance to attend.

There’s nothing more fall than pumpkins! There are many farms and pumpkin patches where you can do some pumpkin picking—go online and find one near you. It’s a great activity you can do alone or turn into a group activity.

Wondering what to do with these pumpkins once you have them? Get messy—buy some paints and get decorating! Let your creativity flow—use stencils to create intricate designs or even use glitter to make your pumpkins sparkle! Place your freshly painted gourd outside your doorstep to liven things up or by the fireplace to give your indoor space a festive fall flair.

An activity that is both fun and delicious is a cooking party! Gather seasonal fall ingredients such as squash, corn, beets, potatoes, apples, walnuts, pears, and figs. Invite friends over and assign everyone a featured ingredient or two and cook a meal together.

Create a seasonal tablescape to compliment the meal. Decorate your table with red, orange, and yellow leaves to integrate some vibrant fall inspired color. Continue to incorporate elements of nature by placing a few branches around the table too. Candles are also a nice touch—choose ones of varying heights and colors to add depth and character.

Find a nearby hiking trail and go for a long walk with the family. This quintessential autumn environment is the perfect excuse to wear some soft, warm flannel and toasty boots to take in the sights.

Take the time to breathe in the fresh, cool air of autumn before the winter winds come by. The kids will love playing with the leaves and seeing the squirrels while you stroll down the path. Play I Spy or create a scavenger hunt along the way and bring hot chocolate with you for a cozy treat.
